It's Okay To Be Intimidated by Firearms

It means you’re probably taking this very seriously. That’s a good thing.

There are a lot of options for getting started, and each one addresses different interests in skill level. On this page, we hope to clarify the differences between each course to help you determine which is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends, are you ready to hold a gun?

We have many class options for brand new shooters.

For the gun curious, who simply are not ready to start handling a firearm but want to learn more, I would advise signing up for a safety seminar. This 45 minute class is a low commitment opportunity to learn about firearms and ask questions without the hands-on experience of shooting.

For those who are ready to learn about safely shooting a firearm, and want guidance on using one, I would advise either the NRA First Steps course or the Intro To Pistol/Intro To Rifle Courses. The NRA First Steps course is a shorter, simplified version of the Intro to Pistol/Rifle courses, which cover a more in-depth classroom experience.

Lunch

Many of our classes run the entire day - meaning that there is not an opportunity to stop, and go grab lunch. Besides, while we teach at multiple ranges, many of them are not near restaurants where you can buy food. Please bring enough food and water to keep yourself comfortable for the entire day.

Your Own Firearm

Many of our classes provide the opportunity for you to shoot/use your own firearm.

Please see the description of the class you have in mind for full details, because certain models of firearms may be banned entirely, or may be banned for certain classes (ie. You cannot bring a compact firearm to our intro to pistols classes because compact firearms are more challenging to shoot than what we cover in this beginner course).

A Pencil

Many of our courses include a multiple-choice exam at the end. We advise you bring a writing utensil that can be erased, should you make a mistake. You are also encouraged to bring any resources you that you like to take notes with.
